Associate – Dispute Resolution & Litigation

About the role
We are seeking a 2‑5 year post‑qualification Associate to join our Dispute Resolution & Litigation team. The successful candidate will work on a broad spectrum of complex matters, ranging from commissions and inquiries to competition, consumer, intellectual‑property, defamation and regulatory disputes, providing practical advice to both private and public sector clients.
Key responsibilities
- Assist senior partners, particularly Shaun Temby, in managing and advancing litigation matters across multiple practice areas.
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, statements, submissions and mediation materials.
- Participate in advisory, mediation and hearing work, representing clients where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain client relationships through clear communication and timely updates.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the collaborative culture of the team.
Required profile
- 2‑5 years of post‑qualification experience in a high‑volume litigation environment.
- Strong academic credentials and a proven track record of handling advisory, mediation, and courtroom work.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and persuade at all levels.
- Attention to detail and the capacity to manage complex, multi‑jurisdictional matters.
- Experience in historic abuse claims or significant personal‑injury work is desirable.

- Advanced legal drafting and research abilities.
- Technical proficiency in preparing litigation documentation.
- Negotiation and dispute‑resolution techniques.
