Assistant Financial Accountant

About the role

Nine, Australia's largest locally owned media company, is recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant to join its Group Finance team. The role supports the financial accounting function across the Publishing, Broadcasting and Digital divisions, contributing to financial reporting and balance sheet processes and taking part in continuous process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Review and process general ledger entries in line with company policies and compliance standards.
• Assist with accounts payable, including invoice coding.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Support month-end closing by preparing accruals, prepayments and accurate journal entries.
• Help prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain internal controls and contribute to continuous improvement across accounting processes.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent practical knowledge.
• Demonstrated experience in an assistant accounting or financial accounting role.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in spotting and resolving discrepancies.
• Strong organisation skills to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
• Proactive, growth-minded approach with confidentiality and professional integrity.
• Right to work and live in Australia.
