Assistant Accountant

About the role

Join Sedgwick's Financial Control team in Sydney as an Assistant Accountant. You will support month‑end reporting, compliance and process improvement while working closely with a supportive Senior Accountant.

Key responsibilities

• Support monthly P&L analysis, investigate variances and ensure data accuracy.
• Prepare and post key journals for pre‑payments, accruals, WIP, contractor costs and intercompany transactions.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations, resolve unreconciled items and assist with internal and external audits.
• Administer corporate travel and expense processes using Concur, including user access and invoice approvals.
• Assist with tax obligations such as GST, FBT and income tax returns.

Required profile

• CPA/CA qualified or progressing.
• Practical accounting experience in an assistant accountant role, preferably commercial.
• Experience with month‑end close, intercompany accounting and detailed P&L reviews.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel (Power Query preferred).
• Experience with SAP data integrity.
• Proficiency with Concur expense management.
• Knowledge of statutory accounting and tax compliance (GST, FBT).
