Assistant Accountant – Financial Control Team

About the role

Join Sedgwick’s Financial Control team as an Assistant Accountant and gain hands‑on exposure to month‑end reporting, compliance, financial controls and process improvement initiatives. You will report to a Senior Accountant and work in a collaborative environment that supports your technical growth.

Key responsibilities

• Support monthly P&L analysis, investigate variances and ensure data accuracy.
• Prepare and post key month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end journals (pre‑payments, accruals, WIP, contractor costs, intercompany transactions).
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations, resolve unreconciled items and assist with internal and external audit processes.
• Administer corporate travel and expense processes in Concur for Australia and New Zealand.
• Assist with tax obligations (GST, FBT, income tax) and stay current with relevant legislation.

Required profile

• CPA/CA qualified or progressing, with practical accounting experience in an assistant role.
• Experience with month‑end close, journal posting and financial reporting cycles.
• Strong analytical mindset, high attention to detail and ability to investigate financial anomalies.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with business units and shared services.

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel (Power Query preferred).
• Experience with SAP for AP processing and data integrity.
• Familiarity with Concur expense management.
• Understanding of statutory accounting and tax compliance.
