Arts and Crafts Volunteer

About the role

HammondCare is looking for an Arts and Crafts Volunteer to support patients in its Older Persons' Mental Health unit at North Ryde. The role brings joy through social connection by encouraging patients to take part in creative activities, such as crafts, art projects or other creative pursuits, either individually or in a group. It is described as a role of kindness, presence and sharing a creative experience.

Key responsibilities

• Encourage patients to engage in a craft activity, art project or other creative pursuit, alone or in a group.
• Offer relaxed companionship and act as a good listener.
• Enjoy social engagement with patients.

Required profile

• Aged 18 years or older; HammondCare will arrange and pay for a national police check.
• Meets NSW Department of Health immunisation standards for this role (HepB, measles, mumps and rubella, tetanus, influenza) or is willing to discuss meeting them.
• Available for one hour per week, Monday to Friday, for 12 months or longer.
