Area Sales Manager - Cardiac Rhythm Devices

About the role

Abbott's Cardiac Rhythm Management division is hiring an Area Sales Manager to cover South Brisbane and Goldcoast. The role provides the allocated sales team with leadership, direction and resources so that sales targets are achieved, and liaises with the Head of Sales and Marketing to make sure short- and long-term sales strategies are executed. It sits in the CRM Cardiac Rhythm Management division.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the activities of the state sales team to achieve short- and long-term business objectives, increased profit and market share within the state-based CRM portfolio.
• In consultation with the Head of Sales, turn sales data and analysis into day-to-day sales and marketing strategies and drive them through the sales force.
• Maintain regular contact with key opinion leaders in the state to increase the CRM brand.
• Identify, analyse and present new business opportunities and improvement ideas to the Regional Sales Manager.
• Negotiate major deals with the Head of Sales and field staff and ensure tenders are managed with customers and other stakeholders.
• Manage the state sales team, including recruitment, retention, development plans, succession planning and training.
• Manage local expense budgets with the Head of Sales and review and approve employee expenses in line with Abbott policies.
• Work outside ordinary hours for essential training, team meetings, customer events and trade shows or conferences, which may take place on evenings and weekends.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in a science, biomedical, medical science, business management or related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the cardiovascular medical device industry.
• Proven track record of delivering sales targets in a complex, solution-selling environment.
• Ability to manage a sales territory and lead a sales and technical team.
• Good understanding of the medical and healthcare industry processes, able to explain them clearly to customers and experts.
• Previous experience in a sales management role in the medical devices, healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
• Must obtain and maintain the certification specified by Abbott.
