Area Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

The Area Manager will lead the performance and operations of multiple Connor Clothing stores in the Canberra region. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on driving sales, maintaining brand standards, and fostering a high‑performance culture.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee sales targets, KPIs and profitability across several stores.
• Coach and support Store Managers, developing their teams.
• Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional customer service.
• Manage store presentation, visual merchandising, stock levels and policy compliance.
• Analyse sales reports and implement local marketing initiatives.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and staff development.
• Promote an inclusive, high‑energy work environment.

Required profile

• Proven multi‑site retail management experience, preferably in fashion or apparel.
• Strong record of achieving sales and KPI targets.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching and performance‑management abilities.
• Excellent customer‑service and people‑engagement skills.
• Solid commercial acumen including budgeting, rostering and inventory management.
• Experience maintaining high visual‑merchandising standards.
• Effective communication, problem‑solving and time‑management capabilities.
• Willingness to work across multiple Canberra locations, including weekends and peak periods.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport; retail or business qualification is a plus.
