APS6 Front End Designer/Developer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an APS6 Front End Designer/Developer to join the Web and Digital Services section of the Australian Government. The role combines design sensibility with front‑end development to create accessible, user‑friendly digital experiences that meet government standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop front‑end solutions that are visually appealing, accessible and compliant with Australian Government website policies.
• Collaborate with senior developers, publishers, content writers, graphic designers, AV teams and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality digital products.
• Participate in user research and stakeholder interviews to understand requirements and translate them into functional designs.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with government standards and best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Strong interest in good design and user‑centred research.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders to gather requirements.
• Experience with basic front‑end development tasks and a solid understanding of web accessibility principles.
