APS6 Design Strategist (Federal Government)

About the role

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced and motivated APS6 level Design Strategist to support a high-profile Australian Government agency in Surry Hills, NSW. The role suits a strategic thinker who leads complex initiatives, delivers evidence-based insights and contributes to programs with a meaningful impact on Australians. It is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a convenient Surry Hills location and hybrid working arrangements available.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate strategic projects, programs and initiatives from planning through to delivery.
• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, governance documentation and reporting.
• Conduct complex research, investigations and analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
• Prepare reports, executive briefs, business cases, discussion papers and corporate documentation.
• Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
• Provide specialist advice and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Support policy development, workforce planning and organisational improvement initiatives.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to procurement, contract management and project quality assurance.

Required profile

• Experience in strategy, policy, program or project management environments.
• Strong analytical and research skills, and exceptional written communication skills, including executive-level documentation.
• Proven stakeholder engagement and autonomous work with sound judgement.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in public policy, business, strategy, project management, public administration or a related discipline, and/or a minimum of three years' experience in a policy, strategy or related role.
• Australian citizenship is required for this federal government role.
• Experience in government, disability, health or human services is highly regarded; knowledge of strategic planning, workforce planning, procurement or contract management is desirable.

What we offer

• Pay of $60.26 per hour including casual loading (advertised $60-$61 per hour).
