APS5 Pharmacist – Regulatory Role in Canberra

About the role

This 12‑month full‑time APS5‑equivalent position is based in Canberra and supports the Prescription Medicines Authorisation Branch of an Australian Government regulatory body. You will develop regulatory expertise while contributing to the safety, quality and efficacy assessment of prescription medicines across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and finalise minor variation applications for prescription medicines under delegate supervision.
• Review Consumer Medicine Information (CMI) and Product Information for new and generic medicine submissions.
• Draft approval correspondence and assist with regulatory documentation.
• Provide clinical and legislative advice to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Identify and implement process improvements, policy updates and operational enhancements.
• Support team initiatives, training activities and broader branch functions as required.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship (essential).
• Current registration as a practising pharmacist with AHPRA.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
• Ability to exercise sound professional judgement in a regulatory environment.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
