Application Engineering Intern

About the role

Volvo Group is looking for an Application Engineering Intern to join its team at the Wacol production facility. The role gives hands-on experience across engineering, manufacturing and customer solutions while working with Australia's leading heavy vehicle brands, with mentorship from experienced Application Engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with vehicle application engineering and technical support activities
• Support the development of fit-for-purpose vehicle solutions for customers
• Conduct vehicle performance, weight distribution and stability calculations
• Assist with chassis layouts, equipment integration and body builder solutions
• Prepare technical documentation, drawings and vehicle specification information
• Support customer adaptation and PBS-related activities
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sales and dealer teams
• Take part in technical reviews, projects and stakeholder discussions
• Research, analyse and validate engineering data to support decision-making

Required profile

• Completing the 3rd or 4th year of study, or recently graduated, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
• Passion for engineering and interest in building a career in the heavy vehicle industry
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Proactive, curious and able to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
• Team player focused on safety and quality
