Application Developer – Data Science Team

About the role

The NSW Police Force is seeking an Application Developer to join its Data Science team within the Technology and Communication Services Command. You will design, build, and maintain software, web and multimedia applications that turn data‑science models into usable tools for police operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy data‑science applications using Python, SQL and modern frameworks such as Streamlit.
• Integrate statistical, machine‑learning and forecasting models into production systems.
• Provide ongoing support: debugging, monitoring, maintenance and code governance for deployed solutions.
• Collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver user‑centric tools.
• Document application architecture, usage guidelines and technical procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, physics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of hands‑on development experience (5+ years preferred) in data‑science application delivery.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business problems into technical solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse audiences.
