Analyst – Private Tax & Advisory

About the role

Deloitte is seeking an Analyst to join its Private Tax & Advisory team in Hobart. You will work alongside Managers, Directors and Partners, providing tax compliance, advisory and effect accounting services to a diverse portfolio of private groups, corporate clients and government‑owned businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review income tax returns, tax calculations and corporate tax compliance obligations.
• Assist with current and deferred tax calculations, tax provisions and tax effect accounting disclosures.
• Support tax advisory engagements, including corporate restructures, transactions and application of Australian income tax law.
• Assist with international tax matters such as cross‑border transactions and Australian tax implications of international activities.
• Conduct tax research, draft technical memoranda and client correspondence.
• Engage with the ATO, manage tax governance and risk matters, and build trusted client relationships.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in accounting, commerce, law, economics or related discipline.
• Progress towards or intention to pursue CA qualification or a Master of Taxation.
• 1‑3 years of tax experience in a Big 4, mid‑tier firm, law firm, corporate tax team or accounting environment.
• Strong analytical, research and written communication skills with attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset, commitment to learning and ability to manage competing priorities.
