AI & Data Engineering Lead (Sydney)

About the role

Deloitte's AI & Data team is expanding its team of experienced Data Engineers in Sydney. The team works with public and private sector clients to design and implement AI and data solutions, often in partnership with technology vendors such as Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Amazon, Google, and Informatica. The role sits within the Value & Adoption team, which focuses on showing clients demonstrable AI-enabled value.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of experience working with at least one of Databricks, Snowflake, AWS or Azure.
• At least one formal certification in one of these technologies.
• Strong grasp of data fundamentals, preferably with experience with databases, data warehouses, data lakes or other storage solutions.
• Previous consulting or client-facing experience is highly regarded.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and comfort in a flexible, dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Experience across at least two of: Spark (preferably PySpark), SQL and dbt, and data ingestion from streaming sources or transactional systems.
• Application experience (for example Databricks apps) is a bonus.
• Hands-on development in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• SQL and database skills are highly regarded; technical certifications are highly regarded.
