Aged Care Social Volunteer - Conversations with a Former Ballerina

About the role

A former ballerina originally from Germany, who speaks English and German, is looking for a social volunteer to visit her at an aged care home in Queens Park. The volunteer shares conversations, books, music and walks with her, bringing warmth and connection to her week. The role suits someone who enjoys spending time with older people and building friendships through regular visits.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the resident for 1 hour, weekly or fortnightly, between 10:00am and 5:00pm, avoiding lunchtime at 12:00pm; the organisation is happy to work around your availability.
• Chat about life experiences, discuss a favourite book, listen to music together or simply enjoy each other's company.
• Help improve the quality of life of the person visited and reduce feelings of isolation through regular visits.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Availability for a 30-minute visit between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday, weekly to fortnightly depending on your schedule.
