Advanced Trainee – General Medicine (Darwin, NT)

About the role

We are seeking an Advanced Trainee in General Medicine to join a 360‑bed tertiary teaching hospital in Darwin, Northern Territory. The role provides accredited RACP training and exposure to a wide range of acute, multisystem and tropical conditions, supporting progression towards Fellowship.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑acuity inpatient care across general medicine, infectious diseases, and tropical medicine.
• Manage complex multisystem and chronic disease cases, including Indigenous health and rural outreach.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical decision‑making and procedural training.
• Contribute to teaching activities for medical students and junior trainees.
• Engage in research and quality‑improvement projects under consultant supervision.

Required profile

• Medical graduate with eligibility for RACP Advanced Training.
• Demonstrated interest in tropical, remote and Indigenous health.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume tertiary environment.
• Commitment to professional development and teamwork.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and management of acute general medicine presentations.
• Procedural competence under supervision (e.g., venipuncture, arterial blood gases).
• Interpretation of basic investigations (blood tests, imaging).
