Director of National Research Infrastructure (CAGE)

About the role

Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Western Australian Centre for Cell and Genome Engineering (CAGE), a national research infrastructure supporting world‑class biomedical research and clinical translation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the establishment and ongoing operation of CAGE across two partner institutes.
• Oversee service delivery, business planning, financial sustainability and national representation.
• Build and strengthen partnerships with researchers, clinicians, industry, funding bodies and national research networks.
• Drive user engagement, attract national and international users and ensure long‑term viability of the facility.
• Coordinate integration of CRISPR genome editing, high‑throughput functional screening, iPSC reprogramming, disease modelling and epigenome editing.

Required profile

• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Significant experience leading a research facility, scientific programme or national capability.
• Proven track record in developing strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to translate strategy into action and deliver collaborative outcomes.

• Level 10, G1 salary $159,292‑$165,497 per year plus 17 % superannuation.
