Advanced Trainee – Clinical Toxicology (12‑month fixed term)

About the role

The Advanced Trainee position in Clinical Toxicology at Calvary Mater Newcastle provides a 12‑month, full‑time or part‑time opportunity to deliver high‑quality emergency medical care to poisoned and envenomed patients, under specialist supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective medical management for patients with poisoning, envenomation, and deliberate self‑poisoning.
• Collaborate with the Department of Consultation‑Liaison Psychiatry as part of the Hunter Area Toxicology Service.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care plans.
• Engage in continuous learning and professional development in clinical toxicology.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent, registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Minimum 3 years postgraduate hospital experience, including at least 1 year in internal medicine, emergency medicine or intensive care.
• Current participation in or completion of an advanced training programme recognised by an Australasian or international training body.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal abilities.
