Accountant – 6‑month contract (potential permanent)

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Accountant to join our Brisbane team on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the CFO, you will support the full finance function while driving process improvements and efficiencies.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end close activities, including journals, reconciliations and reporting.
• Prepare management reports and conduct financial analysis.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and related reporting processes.
• Manage balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure general‑ledger integrity.
• Support cash‑flow reporting and working‑capital management.
• Assist with BAS, GST and other statutory compliance requirements.
• Work closely with the CFO to review and streamline finance processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, controls and reporting efficiency.
• Provide ad‑hoc financial analysis and support to the broader business.

Required profile

• CA/CPA qualified (or near completion).
• Proven hands‑on accounting experience, preferably in an SME environment.
• Strong end‑to‑end accounting capability, including month‑end and compliance.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
• Proactive mindset with ability to drive process improvements.
• Comfortable working closely with senior leadership in a lean finance team.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems.
