Account Manager - Steel & Aluminium

About the role

BlueScope Distribution, a single-source supplier of steel and aluminium products and services, is looking for an Account Manager based in Launceston, Tasmania. You will manage an established portfolio of existing customers across a 400 km² area, working with a highly experienced local team to build trusted relationships and grow partnerships. A January 2027 start is possible, with an earlier start open to discussion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow an established portfolio of customer accounts across Northern Tasmania
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers through regular face-to-face engagement
• Identify opportunities to increase value and strengthen customer partnerships
• Provide customers with product, service and market insights
• Develop and execute call plans and account management activities
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver customer outcomes
• Maintain accurate customer information and account documentation
• Travel around Tasmania, about 3 days per week on the road

Required profile

• Previous account management, territory management, business development or metals trade experience
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and influence skills
• Confidence working autonomously across a geographically diverse territory
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Experience with SAP, Salesforce or a similar CRM system (desirable)
• Manufacturing, steel, building products, construction or industrial industry experience (desirable)
