Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer (Male)

About the role

Roper Gulf Regional Council is recruiting an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer (male) to join its team in Katherine. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the officer works with stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Roper Gulf region. The position is open only to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people under an approved Special Measures Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Roper Gulf region.
• Develop initiatives that strengthen cultural connections, raise awareness and improve the community.
• Influence internal processes to embed best practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through the Council's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Required profile

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nationality, meeting all essential selection criteria in the Position Description.
• Suitability for the level of the position.
• Willingness to travel and work in remote communities, including overnight stays, within the Roper Gulf Regional Council area.

What we offer

• Base salary of $94,400.41 to $103,825.61 per year depending on experience.
• 6 weeks annual leave plus 10 days personal and sick leave.
