Youth Program Worker

About the role

MADEC is recruiting a Youth Program Worker to support its Youth Empowerment Support Service (YESS) and Pathways to Independence (PTI) programs. The role is full time, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and focuses on mentoring young people, facilitating activities and helping them overcome barriers.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive, professional relationships with young people.
• Deliver individual and group-based youth programs.
• Support young people to develop life skills, confidence and independence.
• Assist participants to access education, employment, training and community opportunities.
• Facilitate workshops, activities and community engagement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate participant records and case notes.
• Work with community organisations, schools and referral partners.
• Contribute to a positive, safe and inclusive environment for young people.

Required profile

• Passion for supporting young people; builds rapport quickly and communicates effectively.
• Organised, adaptable and proactive, able to manage competing priorities.
• Committed to safeguarding and person-centred practice.
• Experience with vulnerable young people, employment programs or community services is highly regarded.

Required skills

• Qualification (or working towards) in Community Services, Youth Work or a related field.
• Current Queensland driver licence.
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• Current First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain it.
• National Police Check.
