Workshop Supervisor

About the role

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia's Wacol Branch is looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead its busy Service Department. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will manage day-to-day workshop operations so that maintenance and repair are safe, efficient and high quality, while coaching and supporting a team of technicians and apprentices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and mentor technicians and apprentices, building a high-performance team culture
• Plan and coordinate daily workshop activities to maximise labour utilisation and efficiency
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all WHS requirements
• Monitor performance, productivity and quality standards to deliver good customer outcomes
• Review and manage WIP, job costs and workflow so work finishes on time and within budget
• Keep service documentation, warranty compliance and reporting accurate
• Drive continuous improvement and support communication between customers, technicians, parts and service teams

Required profile

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Mobile Plant Mechanic
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a workshop or service environment
• Strong experience maintaining and repairing earthmoving, construction or mining equipment
• Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
• Excellent organisation and time management, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive problem solver who can motivate and develop teams
