Workshop Leading Hand

About the role

Motion Engineering & Services is looking for a Workshop Leading Hand at Acacia Ridge to lead a skilled workshop team and help drive safe, efficient maintenance operations. This is a permanent full-time role, Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 3.15pm, with hands-on leadership and clear career growth pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the workshop team in fitting, maintenance and repair activities.
• Allocate and coordinate labour, materials and daily job priorities to minimise delays and costs.
• Supervise planned, unplanned and emerging maintenance work.
• Perform hands-on mechanical fitting, including equipment inspections, fault-finding, repairs and overhauls.
• Support repairs to pumps, mixers, bearings, mechanical seals and other rotating equipment.
• Ensure accurate job scoping, estimates, timeframes and maintenance documentation.
• Promote a strong safety culture and follow company health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Assist with team rostering, workflow planning and workshop personnel development.
• Travel to customer sites as required.

Required profile

• Experience in a mechanical fitting, maintenance or workshop environment in manufacturing or a similar industry.
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a team in a workshop or maintenance setting.
• Strong technical knowledge of pumps, mechanical seals and other rotating equipment.
• Experience with equipment overhauls, bearing replacements, shaft alignment and fault-finding.
• Sound understanding of maintenance planning, job scheduling, labour allocation and materials management.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
• Commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards, and willingness to travel to customer sites.
• Australian citizen or permanent resident visa holder.
