Volunteer Coordinator - Palliative Care

About the role

Albury Wodonga Health is seeking a compassionate Volunteer Coordinator to lead and support its Palliative Care Volunteer Program. The role coordinates the recruitment, training, support and ongoing engagement of volunteers who give companionship and practical support to palliative care patients, carers and families. It sits within the Community Palliative Care Team and works closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure volunteers are well equipped to contribute to a high-quality, person-centred service.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers
• Manage ongoing volunteer engagement and development
• Foster partnerships with patients, carers, staff and community stakeholders
• Deliver a high-quality volunteer service that supports the care and wellbeing of patients, carers and families

Required profile

• Qualifications, skills and experience relevant to coordinating volunteers in a community-based environment
• Understanding of palliative care and the needs of patients and carers that can be supported through volunteer services
• Ability to work effectively with diverse client groups and stakeholders and to motivate and support others
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship-building across all levels of an organisation
• Experience managing schedules, databases, records and workflows
