Visiting Medical Officer – General Practice Anaesthetics (Temora)

About the role

Based in Temora, the Visiting Medical Officer will deliver high-quality, patient-centred general practice services with a focus on anaesthesia and procedural care. The role supports the local community by providing safe, evidence-based medical care across a range of settings, including outpatient clinics, telehealth and emergency presentations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services as required by Murrumbidgee LHD.
• Be available during rostered hours and on-call, covering clinical handovers, supervision, teaching and both emergency and routine care.
• Deliver education and support to multidisciplinary clinicians, promoting quality and safe clinical practice.
• Perform minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department.

Required profile

• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner.
• Formal recognition as a Procedural General Practitioner with accreditation from the Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA) or equivalent.
• Minimum three years post-graduate clinical experience.
• Experience in emergency medicine, general practice, adult internal medicine, paediatrics or rural medicine is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary clinical management of acute and chronic conditions.
