Veterinary Nurse (Casual or Part-Time)

About the role

A small, growing small animal practice in Ballarat is looking for an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join its team. The position is casual or part-time, around 3-4 days per week, with the chance to increase hours and move toward permanent employment as the clinic grows. Short Saturday shifts (9:00 am - 1:00 pm) and no Sundays or after-hours work.

Key responsibilities

• Surgical nursing and theatre assistance
• Anaesthetic monitoring and patient recovery
• Medical nursing and hospital patient care
• Consult nursing and client education
• Emergency and critical care nursing
• Pathology collection and diagnostic testing
• Supporting veterinarians during consultations and procedures
• Reception and customer service duties
• Maintaining cleanliness and infection control
• Contributing to the Team-Based Care model

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical veterinary nursing experience
• Strong surgical nursing experience
• Experience in medical and hospital nursing
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Works well independently and collaboratively; calm, mature and empathetic

Required skills

• Confident, independent anaesthesia monitoring
• Excellent patient care and animal handling
