About the role
AbbVie is looking for a Value & Access Manager in Sydney to help shape access to its medicines across Australia and New Zealand. You will lead PBAC, MSAC and PHARMAC submissions and help develop market access strategies that support timely, sustainable access to the portfolio. The role works across local, regional and global teams, bringing reimbursement, payer and policy insights to pipeline planning, evidence generation, pricing and portfolio strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare PBAC, MSAC and PHARMAC submissions, including clear, evidence-based content, with accountability for quality, alignment and delivery timelines.
- Serve as market access lead on cross-functional teams, delivering access and payer insights to shape strategy and inform business planning.
- Contribute to reimbursement feasibility assessments for pipeline assets to support portfolio prioritisation and resource allocation.
- Monitor the evolving reimbursement and policy landscape in Australia and New Zealand and contribute to stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborate with regional and global teams so local access insights inform evidence planning and align access and pricing strategy.
- Provide input into reimbursement and pricing assumptions for financial planning cycles.
- Represent AbbVie externally with the Department of Health, Medicines Australia and other experts as required.
- Report adverse events within 24 hours, take part in WHS programs and follow internal codes of conduct and compliance processes.
- Carry out other ad hoc duties, such as administrative tasks, as requested.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in Biomedical, Science, Public Health, Health Economics or Business Administration.
- Experience in market access, health economics or related roles in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Ideal candidate has an understanding of the ANZ healthcare system and reimbursement processes.
- Experience developing market access strategy and writing high-quality HTA submissions with clear, evidence-based value propositions.
- Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and matrix environments, and to adapt to changing customer needs.
Required skills
- Ability to lead projects independently, including managing external vendors and project timelines.
- Strategic and analytical thinking, with strong written and verbal communication tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Flexibility, including occasional participation in meetings outside standard hours.
