Urban Civil Construction Assistants

About the role

Join Parkes Shire Council’s Urban Operations team as a Civil Construction Assistant, focusing on concrete and drainage works within the urban road network. You will work under the Urban Works Supervisor to help deliver and maintain essential infrastructure for the community.

Key responsibilities

• Perform road construction and maintenance labour, including tar patching.
• Carry out concrete labour for kerb, gutter, footpaths, road and drainage components.
• Install and maintain signs and roadside furniture.
• Conduct traffic control duties and maintain required certification.
• Operate and maintain small plant and equipment.
• Assist with works survey set‑out and asset maintenance.
• Record work activities accurately and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Required profile

• Current, maintained driver’s licence.
• SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card).
• At least one year of hands‑on experience in a similar civil construction or maintenance role.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Use of hand tools.
• Operation of small plant equipment.
• Traffic control certification and duties.
