Underground Shift Supervisor - Canada

About the role

Barminco, part of the Perenti Group, a global mining services company, is looking for experienced Shift Supervisors for its Canadian operations. The position works on an even-time roster of 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off, alongside experienced underground mining professionals in a safe, dynamic and outcome-focused environment, with the ability to lead and train national supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of shift workers and equipment usage at an underground mine site
• Ensure all workers on shift are trained and competent to perform their duties safely and productively
• Train national supervisors and the workforce to a high standard
• Ensure mining operations are conducted safely and report safety issues promptly to the Underground Manager
• Ensure targets are met and manage, control and supervise working areas in line with relevant Acts and Regulations
• Oversee the mine's duty of care to employees, subcontractors and visitors
• Organise crews, rosters and the day-to-day running of the site
• Hold daily work planning meetings and toolbox talks
• Submit incident reports in writing to the Site Manager
• Carry out crew training, practical assessments and review each employee's development, mentoring and performance

Required profile

• At least 5 years' experience in an underground shift supervisor role
• Current underground shift supervisor ticket
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
• Current driver's licence
• Proactive attitude to safety and a driven work ethic

Required skills

• Full pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and site-specific clearances
• National police clearance
• All necessary tickets and qualifications
• Vaccinations required when working in Canada
