Transport Allocator – Daily Operations Supervisor

About the role

As a Transport Allocator you will be the critical link between planning and execution, turning daily run sheets into smoothly delivered promises. You will manage driver allocations, monitor real‑time progress and keep customers informed of delivery status.

Key responsibilities

• Receive the run sheet each afternoon and allocate drivers their first (and sometimes second) job for the next morning, ensuring a strong start.
• Track every driver’s progress in real time and assign the next job within 15 minutes of completing the previous one, using two‑way radio.
• Confirm each driver’s start time by radio and log it on the daily allocation pad, staying close to the fleet’s pulse.
• Communicate any plan changes to customers by phone first and email as backup, keeping them informed at all times.
• Maintain accurate records of every container delivered by side loader and manage the timely return of all empties, reconciling a live spreadsheet each day at 5 pm.
• Enforce Mondiale VGL’s Driver Fatigue Policy, respect legal weight limits and flag dangerous‑goods consignments to ensure only compliant drivers and equipment handle them.

Required profile

• 4+ years’ experience in transport allocation, freight/logistics coordination or dispatch within road transport, freight forwarding or cartage/distribution.
• Proven experience allocating drivers/jobs in a high‑volume, time‑pressured environment.
• Experience with side‑loader/container operations and empty‑container (de‑hire) management is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility legislation and dangerous‑goods classification and transport requirements.
• Driver Fatigue Management accreditation or willingness to obtain it.
