Trainer & Assessor – Flexible School (Townsville)

About the role

The Trainer & Assessor will deliver engaging face‑to‑face training and assessment to secondary‑age learners at Townsville Flexible School, supporting young people who have disengaged from mainstream education. The role involves creating innovative learning experiences, ensuring compliance with Registered Training Organisation (RTO) standards, and contributing to the school’s strategic and operational plans.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver face‑to‑face and online training to middle and senior secondary learners.
• Design and implement innovative, learner‑centred training programs.
• Assess student performance in line with RTO and compliance standards.
• Maintain student records and follow RTO student management procedures.
• Support the physical health, emotional wellbeing and social connectedness of learners.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s strategic and operational plans.
• Foster relationships with staff, families, industry partners and community organisations.
• Coordinate referrals to external agencies and participate in stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system in the Edmund Rice tradition.
• Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal abilities within a complex organisational structure.
• Adaptability to deliver training in remote, online and face‑to‑face settings.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital learning platforms and eLearning technologies.
• Experience designing and delivering learner‑centred training programs.
• Experience conducting assessments aligned with RTO and compliance standards.
