Tester in Charge – Rail Signalling Projects

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Tester in Charge to lead testing and commissioning activities for rail signalling systems. This permanent, full‑time position operates on a FIFO basis across Western Australia, including the Pilbara region.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for testing and commissioning of new and altered signalling systems, ensuring safety, schedule and budget compliance.
• Produce test and commission documentation, testing methodology, and testing charts for approval.
• Prepare and execute testing and commissioning plans, completing all required documentation to client and industry standards.
• Allocate and optimise human and physical resources, identify and mitigate safety, cost, time, quality, procurement and staffing issues.
• Coordinate with project management and construction teams to ensure site works are completed prior to testing.
• Report on testing and commissioning activities and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience as a Functional Tester or Tester in Charge within the rail industry.
• Ability to work on a FIFO basis and travel regularly to the Pilbara region.
• IRSE licence and experience in railway signalling testing and commissioning.
• Engineering degree or equivalent is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong personnel management and communication skills.
