Tenancy Support Officer

WA Government Jobs

Fixed-term Mid 🇬🇧 English

Job description

About the role

The Department of Housing and Works manages tenancy services, supports housing provision in remote Aboriginal communities and oversees government employee accommodation. As a Tenancy Support Officer you will give person-centred, culturally responsive support to public and Aboriginal housing tenants facing complex challenges, helping them identify barriers to tenancy stability, develop tailored support plans and coordinate practical supports that strengthen independence.

The position is based in the Pilbara, where regular travel is required to support program delivery and stakeholder engagement. There are three full-time, fixed-term appointments of 24 months, with possible extension and/or permanency; other suitable applicants go into a recruitment pool.

Required profile

  • Experience working with individuals, families and communities facing complex social, health or housing challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A commitment to culturally responsive practice, especially with Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Ability to assess needs, identify risks and barriers and coordinate support.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience using technology and information management systems to keep accurate records.
  • Personal leadership: accountability for results, building relationships and openness to feedback.

What we offer

  • Flexible work, including up to 2 days per week from home (limited in front-line roles).
  • Professional development, training and on-the-job learning.
  • Leave: 4 weeks annual leave, 3 public service holidays, long service leave every 7 years and cultural leave for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Modern workspaces and activity-based work hubs in the CBD, Fremantle and Joondalup.
  • Corporate discounts with health insurers and wellness programs.

To apply, submit a CV, a cover letter of two pages or less and a copy of a current Western Australian driver's licence (C or C-A class or equivalent) in MS Word or PDF only, before the closing date.
