Technology Operations Specialist Trainee

About the role

BHP is looking for motivated individuals to join the Olympic Dam Surface Technology Operations team as Technology Operations Specialist Trainees. This three‑year traineeship provides hands‑on experience in industrial technology, a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Information Technology, and exposure to real‑world mining systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the operation and maintenance of platforms, networks, and control systems across Copper SA operations.
• Participate in on‑the‑job training, vendor‑specific courses, and safety programs.
• Support rotating teams and collaborate with experienced technology specialists.
• Contribute to troubleshooting and problem‑solving activities in an industrial environment.

Required profile

• Recent high‑school graduate or career changer with a strong interest in technology.
• Commitment to safety and doing the right thing.
• Curiosity about how technology drives mining operations.
• Motivated, team‑oriented, and eager to learn new skills.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of platforms and networks.
• Fundamental knowledge of control systems.
• Willingness to acquire IT qualifications and vendor‑specific competencies.
