Technology Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Technology Lead to develop, maintain and support UNIX/Linux applications and SQL databases on a 12‑month contract based in Sydney. The role involves close collaboration with application teams, DBAs and business stakeholders to ensure reliable data processing and system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support applications/scripts in a UNIX/Linux environment.
• Write efficient, optimized SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
• Perform database tuning, query optimization, and performance analysis.
• Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash/KornShell).
• Monitor batch jobs and troubleshoot production issues.
• Work closely with application teams, DBAs, and business stakeholders.
• Manage file processing, job scheduling, and system‑level configurations.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance standards.
• Participate in code reviews and deployment processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in production support environments.
• Strong command‑line proficiency in UNIX/Linux.
• Solid experience writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• Ability to automate tasks with Bash or KornShell scripting.
• Experience monitoring batch jobs and resolving production incidents.
• Good collaboration skills with application teams, DBAs and business stakeholders.
• Understanding of ETL processes, data workflows and basic data‑warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with version‑control systems such as Git or SVN.
