Technology Controls Manager

About the role

The Technology Controls Manager will report to the Director of Controls, Testing and Compliance and lead technology‑focused controls testing for The Star Sydney. This 12‑month contract role ensures that compliance and operational risks are identified, assessed and managed, supporting the organisation’s regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead walkthroughs to identify, document and assess technology, cyber and data risks, including related obligations and controls.
• Execute technology control testing to evaluate design, effectiveness, residual risk and compliance with relevant frameworks and regulations.
• Drive improvements to obligations and controls to strengthen the overall risk‑management environment.
• Escalate significant technology, cyber and data risk issues to appropriate governance forums.

Required profile

• Minimum six years of experience in technology risk management within large, complex, regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of technology operational risk and control frameworks.
• Proven governance and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• CISA certification or knowledge.
• CRISC certification or knowledge.
• Familiarity with NIST framework.
• Understanding of the Essential 8 cyber security framework.
• Knowledge of ISO 27000 series.
• Experience with PCI DSS requirements.
