Technician - Technology

About the role

Orica is looking for a Technician - Technology in Welshpool. You will assemble, maintain and prepare geospatial and geophysical equipment used for surveying, mapping and data collection, making sure tools and systems meet high quality standards and are tested and ready for field use. The role also covers troubleshooting and repair, logistics coordination and field dispatch, and following HSE requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical, electronic and sensor parts using work instructions, drawings and supervisor guidance.
• Carry out simple functional checks and assist with calibration.
• Inspect parts and assembled equipment for damage or defects and report issues to the supervisor.
• Maintain equipment, assist with basic troubleshooting and repairs, and escalate complex faults.
• Clean and prepare equipment and tools before and after use.
• Assist with packing, labelling and preparing equipment for shipment to field locations.
• Keep records of assembly, cleaning, checks, shipment bookings and equipment movement.
• Follow HSE requirements, safety instructions, PPE and housekeeping standards, and report hazards and incidents.
• Work with other technicians, supervisors, logistics and support teams to complete tasks on time.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in electronics, mechanical engineering or a related technical field is desirable.
• At least 2-3 years' experience assisting with maintenance, handling or basic troubleshooting of BMR or geophysics tools is preferred; training can be provided.
• A basic understanding of circuit theory for DC and AC circuits is desirable.
