Technical Writer

About the role

Standards Australia, the peak standards development organisation in Australia, is looking for a Technical Writer to support the development and drafting of Standards and related documents across a wide range of subject areas. You will work closely with stakeholders to find the clearest and most logical way to present technical content for maximum reader comprehension.

Key responsibilities

• Develop content for draft Australian Standards and other documents across all project stages, with accountability for the working draft.
• Develop drafts in consultation with technical experts and interpret verbal and written technical content for the intended audience.
• Ensure structure, content and language follow Standards Australia's Guides, Procedures and House Style.
• Address feedback from the Publishing Services team and lead the Drafting Team in resolving public comments on the working draft.
• Collaborate with committee members to facilitate discussions and manage technical issues.
• Work with Project Managers and Publishing Services to deliver high-quality documents within agreed timeframes and scope.
• Develop the drafting schedule with the Project Manager.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant applied experience.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in technical writing, with knowledge of technical writing processes and principles.
• Experience managing conflict and delivering customer excellence.
• Experience facilitating meetings and managing competing priorities.
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or legal right to work in Australia.
