Technical Trainer – Locomotive Driver Development

About the role

Aurizon is looking for an experienced locomotive driver to transition into a Technical Trainer role. You will use your operational knowledge to coach, mentor and assess trainee drivers, helping to build a safer and more capable rail workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver training sessions and competency‑based assessments for trainee locomotive drivers.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to support learner development and performance.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to identify capability gaps and training opportunities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of training materials and programmes.
• Promote safe work practices and operational excellence across the business.

Required profile

• Qualified locomotive driver with strong operational rail knowledge.
• Commitment to safety and a passion for developing others.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain it with company support).
• Relevant train‑driving qualifications and experience.
