Technical Services Superintendent - Open Cut Coal Mine, Central NSW

About the role

A major mining house with a strong presence across Australia's resource sector has engaged Myndshift Group to appoint a Technical Services Superintendent to an established open cut coal operation in Central West NSW. The role leads a multi-disciplinary team covering mine planning, surveying, coal quality and logistics, drill and blast, and geology/geotechnical.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical services function across mine planning, surveying, coal quality and logistics, drill and blast, and geology/geotechnical, providing clear direction and accountability for the team
• Drive short, medium and long term mine planning to deliver safe, efficient and commercially sustainable coal extraction, balancing production targets with resource optimisation
• Report to the Technical Services Manager and work closely with operational leaders so delivery matches production targets, statutory requirements and environmental obligations
• Stay close to the upstream technical work, building, coaching and developing a newer, growing team
• Champion a strong safety culture and collaborative working relationships across technical and operational teams

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
• Significant open cut black coal experience, with a strong background in mine planning and technical services
• Proven ability to lead, develop and engage a multi-disciplinary technical team
• Willingness to stay hands-on with upstream technical requirements
• Sound knowledge of NSW coal mining legislation and regulatory requirements
• Strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving capability
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
