Technical Service Manager

About the role

The Technical Service Manager will lead the delivery of HV/LV electrical service operations for JLE Group's Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Newcastle, you will oversee field maintenance, hire assets and ensure safe, compliant, and commercially viable service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee technical service activities including maintenance, breakdowns, commissioning and installations.
• Plan and schedule technicians, subcontractors and resources to meet SLAs and deadlines.
• Maintain workflow control from job initiation to close‑out.
• Provide technical guidance, fault finding and diagnostics across HV/LV systems and hire equipment.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, electrical regulations and company procedures.
• Lead, mentor and develop technicians and apprentices through performance reviews and training.
• Manage workforce planning, utilisation, productivity and technician development.
• Act as key client contact, deliver technical solutions and identify revenue opportunities.
• Manage job costing, profitability, quoting, tendering, pricing and financial performance.
• Drive WHS compliance, safety initiatives, toolbox talks and risk assessments.
• Maintain service records, asset registers, compliance documentation and support ISO audits.
• Oversee service systems, reporting tools and preventative maintenance programmes.

Required profile

• Electrical trade qualification (HV/LV preferred).
• 7–12 years experience in the trade, preferably in service delivery or maintenance operations.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen – job costing, margins and budgeting.
• Knowledge of WHS and Australian standards, including relevant Codes of Practice.
• Desirable management skills such as planning, organising and evaluation.
• Contract training (GC21/AS4000) and OH&S training.
