Rollingstock Maintainer – Shiftwork

About the role

One Rail Australia is expanding its Newcastle Maintenance team and is looking for experienced Rollingstock Maintainers to work shift‑based rosters. The role supports the safe and reliable operation of the company’s rollingstock fleet across New South Wales, starting January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and unplanned service work on locomotives and wagons, including preventative maintenance and failure repairs.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical tasks on key components such as bogies, brake cylinders and slack adjusters.
• Use computerised maintenance management systems to record work and manage isolation/lock‑out procedures.
• Operate shunt tractors, capstans and mobile lifting equipment for rollingstock movements.
• Provide field maintenance, derailment recovery, and on‑call after‑hours breakdown support.
• Assist with facilities tasks including fueling, sanding, washing and general upkeep.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified with experience in heavy‑industry rail or similar environments.
• Valid Class C motor vehicle licence; forklift (LF) and truck (HR) licences are desirable.
• Ability to work unsupervised on shift patterns that include afternoons, nights and weekends.
• Commitment to safety, zero‑injury culture and high integrity.
