Technical Lead - South Bank, QLD

About the role

Flight Centre Travel Group is looking for a Technical Lead in South Bank, QLD. The role leads the design and development of solutions that meet customer and business needs, works closely with engineering, product and business stakeholders, mentors developers and champions Agile delivery. It suits someone with senior software engineering expertise who wants to drive technical direction and support team growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of technical solutions within an Agile team
• Partner with stakeholders to support solution discovery and align outcomes to business objectives
• Identify technical capability gaps and work with architects and technical specialists to address them
• Coach, mentor and develop engineers, and set technical goals for teams
• Promote Agile ways of working, including continuous delivery and test automation
• Drive engineering best practices, secure coding standards and continuous improvement
• Manage and reduce technical debt while keeping solutions supported and maintainable
• Support modern architectures such as microservices, event-driven architecture and serverless solutions
• Ensure production solutions maintain strong uptime, reliability and availability

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional experience in a senior software engineering role
• Bachelor's degree or demonstrated equivalent industry experience
• Demonstrated understanding of Agile principles and processes
• Proven ability to coach, mentor and lead engineering teams
• Commercially minded approach with strong prioritisation, problem-solving and decision-making

Required skills

• Strong understanding of modern software engineering principles and practices
• Experience designing and delivering scalable, maintainable software solutions
