About the role
Leidos Australia's Mission Software Systems (MSS) team delivers software, intelligence and cloud solutions for government, defence and national security customers. As Technical Lead, you will lead the technical delivery of complex software solutions into secure, standalone environments, guide multidisciplinary software and platform engineering teams and connect architecture with implementation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical planning, solution design and implementation across software uplift, platform migration, integration and deployment activities.
- Own the technical approach so that application, platform, security and integration work remain aligned.
- Coordinate technical readiness across build, test and production environments, including deployment dependencies, release inputs and transition to operational support.
- Guide adaptation of existing applications to secure environments while keeping common source code baselines and separating environment-specific configuration from core logic.
- Manage technical dependencies across applications, platforms and infrastructure services, including interfaces, identity services, object storage, artifact repositories and enterprise Git services.
- Mentor software and platform engineers delivering containerised solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm, GitOps and CI/CD practices.
Required profile
- Experience providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams of software and platform engineers in complex delivery or integration environments.
- Ability to turn operational, security and business needs into implementable technical solutions and clearly defined engineering work.
- Knowledge of software architecture, APIs and interfaces, authentication and single sign-on, and containerised deployment, integration and verification practices.
- Experience leading application and platform migration, including technical reviews, trade-off decisions and cross-domain issue resolution.
- Capability in technical risk assessment, documentation, decision management and communicating impacts to project leadership.
- Effective communication with customers, architects, engineers, security specialists and project leaders.
- Australian citizenship and an active NV-2 security clearance; eligibility to obtain and maintain the clearance is required.
Advantageous
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift, Helm, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines and enterprise source code or artifact repositories.
- Knowledge of secure software delivery, vulnerability remediation, configuration management and deployment into restricted or disconnected environments.
- Exposure to large-scale systems integration, application modernisation or migration between Kubernetes platforms.
The hiring process involves an initial conversation with the Talent Acquisition team, an interview with the hiring manager or panel, and possibly a role-specific assessment or customer step.
