Technical Director – Piping & Team Leader

About the role

As Technical Director – Piping & Team Leader in Aurecon's Industrial Mechanical team, you will drive engineering excellence across major mining, resources, industrial and water infrastructure projects in Perth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead piping engineering and plant layout design for large‑scale projects.
• Provide technical leadership from concept and FEED through detailed design and delivery.
• Review and oversee piping designs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, technical reports and documentation.
• Guide multidisciplinary teams through design development, technical reviews, risk assessments and HAZOP studies.
• Mentor and develop piping engineers and designers, building a high‑performing team.
• Strengthen client relationships, support business development and contribute to winning complex projects.
• Contribute to the Service Group business plan and growth activities.
• Represent Aurecon throughout the project lifecycle to ensure client satisfaction.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree with extensive senior piping engineering leadership experience.
• Proven delivery of piping solutions in mining, resources, fuel, water and industrial sectors.
• Strong technical capability in piping design, plant layout, hydraulics, P&IDs and engineering assurance.
• Experience across FEED, EPC and project delivery on large infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and technical excellence.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and business development skills.
