Technical Claims Consultant

About the role

Marsh is looking for a Technical Claims Consultant to join its JLT Public Sector team within its risk business, based in Melbourne. This is a hybrid role with at least three days a week spent in the office. You will give technical claims advice, coordinate claim activity and help clients navigate the claims process across a portfolio of complex, high-value liability claims.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support complex, high-value insurance claims from notification through to settlement.
• Provide high-quality technical claims guidance to clients and internal teams.
• Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors and other stakeholders to progress matters.
• Interpret policy wording and assess claim coverage considerations.
• Maintain accurate records, reporting and correspondence throughout the claims lifecycle.
• Identify claim trends and opportunities to improve client outcomes.

Required profile

• Law degree.
• Experience managing complex liability claims, including public liability and professional indemnity matters.
• Knowledge of liability frameworks, including the Wrongs Act and relevant common law principles.
• Experience engaging with clients, legal counsel and industry partners.
• Proactive approach to managing competing priorities and a commitment to client service.
