Team Leader – Training (Special Operations Group)

About the role

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Corrective Services provides 24/7 armed emergency response and security support across Western Australian correctional facilities. As the Team Leader – Training, you will enhance SOG capability by coordinating and delivering specialised training programmes, overseeing trainers, and managing emergency response drills and exercises.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and maintain a range of specialised training programmes for Corrective Services staff.
• Supervise a team of trainers to ensure delivery meets required standards.
• Manage the delivery of initial, refresher and state‑wide specialised skills training.
• Plan, conduct, evaluate and review emergency response drills and exercises for custodial facilities.
• Travel as required and work outside normal hours to support training and exercise activities.

Required profile

• Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• Obtain Working with Children clearance within six months of start.
• Hold a current Western Australian ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
• Possess or be willing to attain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) within twelve months of commencement.
