Team Leader - Insurance Home Assessor

About the role

SMAART is recruiting, on behalf of an Australian insurance organisation, an experienced Desktop Home Assessing Team Leader for its Sunshine operation. Reporting to the Building and Assessing Manager, you will lead a team of 8 Desktop Home Assessors responsible for virtual property assessments, repair scopes, cost validation and claims management. The position is permanent and full-time, in an office in Sunshine, Melbourne, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of 8 Desktop Home Assessors.
• Provide technical guidance on building assessments, estimating, scopes of work and cost validation.
• Monitor team performance, productivity and quality standards.
• Manage complex claims, escalations and technical challenges.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiencies and cost outcomes.
• Build relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Support team development through regular feedback, training and performance management.

Required profile

• Proven team leader experience leading, coaching and managing a team.
• At least 2 years' experience in home assessing, building or construction.
• Strong understanding of building repairs, scopes of work and estimating.
• Previous insurance or property claims experience is highly regarded.
• Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve complex issues; proactive, solutions-focused approach.
