Team Leader, Bridges & Structures

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Team Leader for its Bridges & Structures practice in Melbourne. In this senior position you will guide a multidisciplinary team, drive business growth and deliver complex bridge and structural projects across the transport sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing Bridges & Structures team, providing technical mentorship and performance management.
• Manage the delivery of bridge and structure projects from concept through construction, ensuring technical excellence and compliance.
• Develop and nurture client relationships, identify new business opportunities and contribute to bid preparation.
• Oversee commercial performance, budgeting and risk management for assigned projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers and project managers to integrate multidisciplinary solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading bridge or structural engineering teams on large infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of business development and client engagement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil/Structural Engineering).
